Time
3:00 am - 4:00 am
Massive areas of wildflowers are in bloom in the flood plain of the north branch of the Kawkawlin River as it crosses our preserve. This longer hike of about two miles will visit our 1/8 mile long peninsula bounded on the east by a stream and on the west by the river and will feature meadows with yellow coneflowers and wooded areas as well as the flood plain. For those wanting a shorter walk, other options are available. This event is co-sponsored by Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy and is free and open to the public.
McLean Nature Preserve is located at 2199 N. Flajole Rd., Rhodes (about ¼ mile north of Erickson Rd.) in northwestern Bay County. For directions or further information call Jim or Shirley McLean at 989-631-3067 in Midland. On the day of the program, we can be reached at 989-698-6239.
